So what is it? Our project is aimed at those people who for a variety of reasons, are feeling lonely, isolated or simply lack direction. Some people may have mental health problems, a long term health problem, and some may simply be at low ebb or facing difficult changes in their lives. Volunteering on Prescription will work with you to find a volunteering placement which suits your interests and give you continued support while you settle in. "I have gained so much confidence, especially meeting people. I feel less anxious generally and my self-esteem has improved."
What's in it for you?
An increase in your self confidence
The feeling that you can make a contribution to your community
A chance to meet new people and make new friends
Following your interests and learning new skills
Getting out of the house and doing something
and if it suits you, to be supported to obtain training or to seek employment.
Interested but not ready? No problem. We don't expect everyone to get straight out there. You could join to benefit from one to one support and take part in our in-house activities until you do feel ready.
To take part in Volunteering on Prescription or for a 'no strings' chat, call us direct on 01547 520653 or email: Catherine@knightoncs.co.uk or ask your doctor or social worker or CPN to make a referral.
